Episode 66: Jeff Jarvis
Tuesday, August 29, 2023
That Word Chat returns August 29 with Jeff Jarvis, author of the new book, The Gutenberg Parenthesis: The Age of Print and Its Lessons for the Age of the Internet. In it, he looks back at the age of print ("a grand exception in history") and examines what comes next.
Jarvis is the Tow Professor for Journalism Innovation at CUNY's Newmark Graduate School of Journalism. He is also author of Object Lessons: An Elegy to the Magazine, due out this fall. His previous books include What Would Google Do? and Public Parts.
Jarvis was creator and founding editor of Entertainment Weekly, president and creative director of Advance.net (the online component of Advance Publications), Sunday editor of the New York Daily News, TV critic for TV Guide and People, and a columnist on the San Francisco Examiner. He is cohost of the podcast This Week in Google.
Sign up below for the Zoom link to the live show, 4:30 p.m. EDT (20:30 UTC) August 29.
