Episode 39: Ann Friedman

Ann B. Friedman, the founder and CEO of the new Planet Word museum in Washington, D.C., joins us for the next That Word Chat with Editor Mark.

Friedman is the developer behind the restoration of the Franklin School to create a home for Planet Word, which celebrates words, language, and reading. Her interest in literacy began with a lifelong love of reading, early work as a copy editor and translator, and a later career as a beginning reading and writing teacher.

From 2010-2016, she served as board chair of the SEED Foundation, the parent body of the nation's only public, inner-city, college-prep boarding schools, where she currently serves as vice chair.

Friedman is a founding board member of the Downtown DC Foundation and a newly elected director of the American Alliance of Museums. She serves on the boards of the Aspen Music Festival and School and the National Symphony Orchestra. She and her husband, Thomas

L. Friedman, the New York Times foreign affairs columnist, live in Bethesda, Maryland, and have two adult daughters.

Join us starting at 4:30 p.m. ET (20:30 UTC) on Tuesday, August 3. Sign up below for the Zoom meeting link.
