Episode 15: Ben Zimmer
That Word Chat welcomes Ben Zimmer, a linguist and lexicographer with inky fingers in many places, including The Wall Street Journal and multiple word-related websites. His website bio describes him as "an all-around word nut."
He has also written for or appeared on The Atlantic, The New York Times, NPR, Forbes, Slate, the Today Show and the BBC, among many others. Recent ventures include a Sunday crossword in the The New York Times and the website Beyond Wordplay, which bills itself as exploring "the art, science, and culture of words."
That Word Chat is at 4:30 p.m. (20:30 UTC) on Tuesday, August 11. Sign up below for the Zoom link.

Thank you to our That Word Chat patrons
Love That Word Chat? Now you can be a patron, too
That Word Chat has been an incredibly fun thing for all of us — we love getting together with fellow word lovers live on Zoom and talking about all sorts of word-related topics. It's also a big time commitment for host Mark Allen and our staff: Heather Saunders, Erin Brenner, Elizabeth Allen, and James Allen. Heather is the showrunner, Erin does social media, Elizabeth prepares show transcripts, and James helps with sound editing. All five work hard every episode to bring you a casual, usually professional experience.
If you appreciate the effort, please consider being part of the team with various levels of support, each with some interesting benefits. Whether you decide to offer patronage or not, you should still tune in every other week and check out past shows on YouTube.
