Teresa and Rob Reinalda in Chicago.

Episode 23: Rob and Teresa Reinalda

That Word Chat with Editor Mark Allen welcomes Rob and Teresa Reinalda, author and illustrator behind a new book that attempts to answer the question of "Why Editors Drink." The book describes itself as "A snarky look at common, often hilarious, writing blunders."

Rob Reinalda is a veteran editor and writer who worked for many years at top U.S. newspapers, including the New York Daily News and the Chicago Tribune, before entering the online publishing world. He is winner of 2019 Robinson Prize for excellence in editing, awarded by ACES: The Society for Editing. Rob has written dozens of articles on language, including essays for The Huffington Post and podcast scripts for Grammar Girl. He has delivered numerous webinars and live presentations and workshops on writing and editing, and he is the founder and principal of Word Czar Media.

Teresa Reinalda has worked as an art director, print and digital designer, and traditional and digital illustrator. A multi-media artist, she began working remotely with models during the pandemic, which led to exploration with digital painting, as represented in “Why Editors Drink.” She’s incorporating this medium into a series of female-focused works. She has worked in fashion, marketing, advertising, and publishing, including as a magazine art director. Under the pseudonym TIAN, she illustrated two children’s books, “Do You Know How Much I Love You?” and “Zoey Learns Her ABCs.”

That Word Chat is at 4:30 p.m. EST and 21:30 UTC on Tuesday, December 1. Sign up below for the Zoom link:
