Episode 13: Strong Language
That Word Chat welcomes Stan Carey and James Harbeck, principals behind the blog Strong Language, on July 14.
Carey is a freelance copy editor and writer from the west of Ireland. A trained scientist and TEFL teacher, he writes about language, words, and books at Sentence First, Macmillan Dictionary Blog, and elsewhere. He tweets at @StanCarey. Harbeck is a freelance editor and writer in Toronto who maintains the blog, Sesquiotica, where he writes about language and conducts word tastings, rolling words around in his mouth and describing them like a fine wine. He has also written for This Week and BBC.com. He tweets at @sesquiotic.
Carey and Harbeck maintain Strong Language, "a sweary blog about swearing." We'll talk about the blog, and there may be swearing.
That Word Chat is at 4:30 p.m. (20:30 UTC) on Tuesday, July 14. Sign up below for the Zoom link.
Episode 12: Next up on YouTube
We'll plan to roll out recorded episodes every two weeks on YouTube. Normally we let them sit for a while, but our conversation with Jane Friedman was so great and so timely, we're going to do that one right away. Look for the premiere at 4:30 p.m. EDT on July 7.
Friedman is a writer and editor with 20 years of experience in publishing. She is the co-founder of The Hot Sheet, the essential publishing industry newsletter for authors, and is the former publisher of Writer’s Digest. Her newest book is The Business of Being a Writer.

Thank you to our That Word Chat patrons
Love That Word Chat? Now you can be a patron, too
Don't get us wrong, That Word Chat has been an incredibly fun thing to do. We love getting together with fellow word lovers live on Zoom and talking about all sorts of word-related topics. It's also a big time commitment for host Mark Allen and producers Heather Saunders and Erin Brenner. Heather is the showrunner, Erin does social media, and all three work hard for every episode to bring you a casual yet professional experience.
If you appreciate the effort, please consider being part of the team with various levels of support, each with some interesting benefits. Note that whether you decide to offer patronage or not, you can still tune in for free (every other week starting in July), and you'll eventually get to see all the past shows on YouTube.
